The environments and the multitude of different enemies can always provide interesting and difficult moments. The controls work wonderfully and should never be a problem in the missions. Especially together, the title is a lot of fun and the scope means that many hours on the console are pre-programmed. The Nintendo Switch version also includes all content from Season Pass One. Players get access to three additional levels, four character packs, nine weapon bundles, five weapon skin packs, and four character outfit packs. Fans will pick up the fourth part anyway, and newcomers should definitely take a look at Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

This is hands down my favourite zombie game on switch (so much better than World War Z) and a good improvement and expansion of Zombie Army Trilogy. Even though basically no one is talking about this game, it has a healthy little switch community of active players. The online play works extremely well, even if the small delay between performing an action online and it being registered in the game is annoying. That’s Nintendo’s fault though with the **** wifi they put in the switch. If I had to make one complaint about this game, it’s that there is way too much leveling up and grinding, particularly for weapon upgrades, to the point where it takes away from the actual gameplay. It’s hard for me to enjoy the gameplay for what it is when all I can think about is headshotting 50 armoured giants to get upgrade my rifle. I’m sure some might enjoy these kinds of upgrading mechanics, but it’s far too grindy for me. Either way, this game has a lot of longevity, and I have no doubt it’s going to end up being one of my most played switch games. Other than the grindy game mechanics, my biggest complaint for the game its super overpriced and prevailent DLC. Season passes 2 and 3 are 30 dollars each. For 3 maps a pop and a handful of weapons and character skins, that’s fundamentally not worth it, compared to the base game (with season pass 1) for 50 dollars that has 12 maps, 11 horde mode maps, and an already decent amount of weapons and characters. Each season pass, for the amount of content they have, shouldn’t be more than 15 dollars, and even that is a stretch. The game won’t let you forget that you have DLC to buy either. The content you’re “missing out on” is plastered all over the games menus, with a big ever present “BUY NOW” button always within reach. Very scummy business practices. You could say it’s better than gatcha mechanics and loot boxes (it is), but I don’t think this super overpriced DLC should be defended in any capacity. To get the “full game” you’d have to pay $105. Too much. If this review seems negative that is because I’m only focusing on the two aspects of the game I didn’t like. Everything else that’s great about it goes without saying. If you like mindless zombie killing online with friends, ZA4 is a no brainer.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War might be one of the most technically impressive games to come to Nintendo Switch in quite some time. With all the action on screen, the game manages to maintain a smooth and consistent experience regardless of how many enemies or online players are present. It’s a goofy, campy title that knows it’s goofy and steers into that goofiness throughout your adventure. It’s also unique in that it’s as much fun to play by yourself as it is to play with friends, although I have to admit playing with friends makes the experience a little more hysterical. While the character movement is too janky for its own good, this doesn’t ruin the experience at all. Put simply, if you’re looking for a good zombie shooter to play by yourself or with friends, then Zombie Army 4 must absolutely be at the top of your list.

It's a tad dumb but it's old-school dumb fun. Jump in with a friend or three and relive the glory days of zombie shooters in a simpler time when battles weren't 'royale' and zombies were hotter than Jessica Alba.

If, like me, the Zombie Army and Sniper Elite franchises are secretly the best shooters, then this Switch version is a no-brainer. For everyone else, however, this is probably a typical case of 'between art and Switch'...

The developers really did a great job in optimizing this game for the Switch. I do recommend the other versions of this game for the full experience, but the Switch version of Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a great choice if you want portability or just to have the game on your Switch console.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a surprisingly solid Switch port of one of our favourite Rebellion titles thus far. There's a ton of zombie Nazi-slaying sweetness to get stuck into here and, although the graphics have taken a hit and the frame rate has been halved in comparison to other platforms, what's here is eminently playable in both docked and handheld modes. Whether you're taking on Hitler's undead hordes alone or with a few friends in tow, this one's a ton of schlocky B-movie fun that gets a great big thumbs up from us.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War for Switch is an enjoyable game in its portable version. Killing zombies with this slow motion effect is still the highlight although we can't pass up the coop features that the game has. It lacks different zombie types and some graphic details but it is still one of the best zombie experiences.

Playing Zombie Army 4 was a really great experience. The campaign stayed fresh from beginning to end with a fantastic climax. The additional levels from the included DLC are just as gripping as well. It’s a great game that you can play solo or with friends, and it does a great job combining horror and action. If the online ends up working as well as the offline does when the game releases, you will lose loads of hours in this world. With all of the customization that you can do for multiple characters, weapons, and abilities with much more paid DLC to come, it’s easy to imagine sinking tons of hours and bullets into this never-ending zombie war.

This title is not a spin off like the Zombie Army Trilogy but a completely new title full of elements that were absent in the ZAT. In fact in Zombie Army 4 we will have to enhance the various weapons as we level up, each character will be able to take advantage of special melee attacks (which will recharge over time), final moves and finally we will be able to choose 5 particular "skills" among the about 30 available (each of which confers offensive, defensive or strategic advantages). To conclude, each character has particular advantages or disadvantages (someone is more resistant to bullets, others to melee attacks etc ...)However it must be admitted that this title, although the gunplay is very fun and adrenaline, differs greatly from the Sniper Elite series for a simple and obvious reason: in this title the core of the series has been completely denatured, that is the importance and role of the sniper. In Zombie Army Trilogy "pro players" used only sniper rifles (the primary weapon) because the secondary weapons and pistols were really not very powerful and effective: the "Sniper Rifle Was The Real Protagonist" because the title was precisely a spin off of the Sniper Elite series ! In Zombie Army 4 instead the use of the primary weapon has become almost superfluous because, especially the secondary weapons, they have been so exaggeratedly enhanced that they are the best choice in 90% of the circumstances

While the campaign suffers from a lack of variety, the shooting mechanics are solid. Zombie Army 4's action is fun and over-the-top, but slaughtering the undead shouldn't feel this routine.

Sequels hardly ever live up to the originals, but Zombie Army is the best of the series. I'm not just talking Zombie Army series, but Sniper Elite series as well. That is saying a lot because they have released some amazing games. Zombie Army just brings so much more to the table though. So I'll mainly start off by telling you what's new, and why to grab this one even if you have played the others.First off there are new collectibles. You can grab Comics that have amazing art on them. Every time you find one you just have to stop and check it out. m I wish you could read them be even better. There are no longer wine bottles to find on the map instead zombie hands. They will hide, and run around making them hilarious to find. They all have names as well. There are some creepy dolls on the stage as well that pop up in different places as you shoot them. I know there is more to it, but didn't want to spoil it by looking it up. It adds a real Call of Duty Nazi Zombies vibe to it. There are also a ton of new zombies as well. Armored zombies, Crawling zombies, green glowing zombies that throw gunk at you blinding you, Zombie sharks, zombies that are strapped with explosives, zombie tanks, I could go on and on. They certainly put a lot of time adding new things to this game to make it fresh. There are new grenades and traps. They added flame, electric, divine, and bait to the grenades. Flames will catch the ground on fire, electric will travel through a horde of zombies shocking them, Divine will heal your entire team that stands in it's energy, bait will pile them all up. The same energy is applied to the traps as well. Trip wires that burn or shock enemies. There are even environmental traps on the maps not just the typical exploding barrels You will see targets to shoot that will shoot electric through the ground or even wake a sleeping sharp to gobble them all up. It's just so cool how much really was added to this game.Another new addition is a weekly event. It changes every week adding more replay value to it by getting an objective that is different every time. Like unlimited secondary ammo, while using only secondary weapons. It will give you XP and a new item like a emote. This week was a Karate Kid Crane Kick. You can't beat that pretty awesome. The horde mode is a lot different as well. You unlock new areas as the rounds advance. It's a blast alone or with a team. The campaign feels so much longer then the ones before it. There are nine levels, each with four chapters, so it will take you awhile to finish it. It's also so much fun as soon as you do, you will more than likely start it all over again. One of my favorite thing about the campaign they added were upgrades to your weapons. You can find upgrade kits in the levels that add perks to your guns like explosives, critical shots that get you health, increased damage and magazine size. Just a bunch of things that make it easier to play alone. When you hit an exploding shot it will wipe out a ton of surrounding zombies and it feels so cool. They also add character perks as well. Things you unlock as you level up like faster revives, increased melee, down but not out that allows you to get up if you land a head shot, and so much more. There are tons of perks to aid in playing as a team or by yourself. There are also power ups for chaining kills together. You can get a shot with your sniper that slows it down while blowing up everything around your target on bullet contact. Your secondary power up you slow down time for like 30 seconds just blasting everything around you in bullet time. Pistol power up allows you to tag multiple enemies I think up to four and then blasting all of them with head shots in a row. Killing zombies really has never been so much fun.It really has a "Left 4 Dead" feel as well. The safe houses just feel like more of the story now, then just trying to get from one to another. That is one of my favorite points of the game. The story is just so much better and rewarding. Unlocking items also gives it much more replay value. You can unlock weapon skins, and new hats to wear. It really just feels like a lot more time went in to this one then previous. It really is a complete and addicting title. I had a hard time getting this review done because I wanted to play it more and more. I can't wait to play it with friends. I know it is only the second month of the year, but Zombie Army 4 is my favorite title so far this year. I really hope there is more to come from Rebellion. By its nature Zombie Army 4 can be a bit repetitive, but at the same time - especially when playing it in coop with your friends - it can be an immensely fun experience for short sessions of nazi zombie killing frenzy.

Zombie Army 4 feels like an old friend you're reconnecting with after a few years. Even though it's similar to its predecessors, the game has been refined into something that holds greater mass appeal. Weapon upgrading, fresh enemy design, and a packed progression system give players a reason to keep coming back. The core gameplay loop is even better more when tackled in co-op, yielding some hilarious and action-packed adventures. Despite the good, the game's core issues arise from a bland campaign that lacks the impressive set pieces and locations from the previous iterations.

An improvement on its predecessors in just about every conceivable way. Zombie Army 4: Dead War offers one of the ‘gamiest’, most carefree and satisfying shooting experiences of recent years. Technical bugs and a lacklustre horde mode prevent this from reaching its full potential, but it’s just so hard to stay mad at a game that’s this much fun.

There is a ton of fun to be had with Zombie Army 4. But that fun, like most vices, is best in moderation. Its skinner box sensibilities alongside gameplay that turns stale fast makes for a game you cannot binge. It’s a simple pleasure to kill zombies, and you’ll get that if you want it with some solid mechanics. It’s a weekend game, something to play once in awhile when you and a friend can find an opening in your respective schedules. But if you don’t find splatter engaging, you won’t miss much.

Top-tier gameplay with captivating ideas is a fun approach to a genre that needs as much creativity as it can find. Different difficulty options welcome all types of players and significantly lets one grow and aim for yet, another challenge.

Zombie Army 4 is indeed better with friends. While the early levels really lack enough zombies to get into the groove of things, once you’ve reached the climax of the third episode most of those problems fade away. Zombies do remain a bit underwhelming however, with only the elites presenting a real threat most of the time. Overall, Zombie Army 4 does more right than it does wrong, and while your mileage will definitely vary, I certainly had fun while romping through a zombified Europe.

Ultimately, Zombie Army 4: Dead War has the same feel as any later-day entry into a horror franchise does. It has delved all the way into the realm of schlock, completely unapologetic for its own existence. There’s something almost admirable about that, but the magic isn’t quite there. That said, if you and your buds are looking for a decent way to pass 10 or so hours, there are certainly worse choices than this. The shooting is among the best around and the X-ray shots are endlessly entertaining. I just wish there were more here to hold my attention past a single playthrough.

The game has the same ‘slomo’ on great shots that Sniper Elite has. I did however turn it off after playing shortly since it kind of gets you out of the flow if you know what I mean.Campaign is cool, fun story. Horde mode is awesome, starts up easy but you’re overrun quickly if you don’t pay attention. Best when played coop with 3 others. Playing as one of four main characters you set out to understand some of the mysterious events causing the dead to organize and attack again. Gameplay is similar to the last 3 installments in the series, with a few enhanced features. There is a more arcady tone as the sounds you hear when collecting ammo, gear, or collectibles feel right out of a 90's arcade, and the waves can feel like a shooting gallery in the early stages. Then you're right back to the dark gritty world of Zombies immediately. You are armed with three weapons and get to find other gear like mines, tripwires, and grenades to keep the dead at bay. Your Riffle, the main weapon of ending the undead, either a Shotgun or SMG as your secondary, and your trusty Pistol. Before DLC you have three rifles, two shotguns or two SMGs, and three pistols to choose from. Each weapon has its own stats, and can each be upgraded through gameplay. One of the main attractions is the X-Ray Kill Cam. Sometimes your shots will break into slow-mo and give you an X-Ray view of the impact. These moments are some of the most gratifying moments in the game, aside from finally defeating an area that's killed you a few times. The game isn't easy, and it is easy to get overwhelmed by the undead, or their artillery. The only issue I ever had in gameplay was not facing the item I was trying to pick up, or box I was opening, but that was more me than the game. Zombie Army 4: Dead War is easily one of the most entertaining, and intense action shooters I've have ever played. This is a must for any fan of the Zombie Army Trilogy, FPS games or Zombies at all!

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is perfect for those who want to have a good time killing zombies until dawn. A fourth part that expands what was seen in previous installments, with a succulent amount of unique and varied missions, but with a visual section somewhat left, but that is compensated by a fun, frenetic and full of possibilities gameplay.

Zombie Army finally has its own face as the graphics are a lot better than its predecessors and there are plenty of new elements. You get to fight zombies in new areas, battle new enemies and get the best experience when slaughtering zombies with some good old-fashioned co-op gameplay. The only real downside is the reduced possibility for sniping.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the kind of game designed to allow you to switch off and engage your trigger fingers, mowing down entire armies of the undead and cracking a smile when you see a bullet explode through a Nazi’s skull. Hitting the sweet spot between catharsis and challenge, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an absolute thrill.
