As is the case with many annual sequels, MLB The Show 21 is an iteration and improvement over its predecessor. Having said that, if you bought The Show 20, I personally can’t see enough of a change to justify getting 21 in my opinion. There are improvements to the game modes that deserve praise, though I don’t know if it will keep me on the hook for a very long time. Having said that, both titles share some fantastic elements, such as the impressive depth of mechanical customisation, which by itself carries the game into high regard.

The game has been out nearly a month and still has major issues. At launch server connection was terrible, tho that has been better as of late. I've lost packs because of connectivity problems and not heard anything back, some people have however I know. Archetype programs still randomly do not progress so it is time wasted for some. Equipment still at time doesnt work properly. RTTS has been gutted this year, it feels like you are just being shoved through games fast as possible with no flavor and really no upgrades to the mode at all. Diamond Dynasty which I have never played, however is loaded with tons and tons of things to do. I've been really pleased with that mode. And the rewards are very generous so you can build a team and level quite easily. Sadly the only reason I started DD was to level my Road to the Show character. They said you arent forced into it, but really you kind of are. As a whole the game is good, it is by far my favorite sports game and visually it looks fantastic. But it is just not up[ to par with previous releases and as is becoming the new norm it was released buggy and feeling unfinished. To me at least.

MLB The Show 21 is the king of the market when it comes to baseball. It has all the weapons to please newcomers as well as the most demanding players, with multiple accessibility and game mode options, although with very scarce updates in relation to its predecessor. Even though the version used for this analysis was the Playstation 4 one, visually it becomes identical to what we have seen in the past, maybe having the next generation “at fault”, but it is still a very enjoyable experience.

Sony San Diego develops a conservative delivery, with hardly any improvements in gameplay and content. Being intergenerational, in addition, the technical leap is invaluable, but nevertheless, it is still a very solid baseball game.

What's always been good about the franchise is still good here, but when it comes to making the next-gen leap, The Show 21 can't quite cut it. Series die-hards will likely enjoy the real-world rule changes, but if you're picking up the game for the first time in a while, last year's entry is as good as this one.

Some time has passed now and I think I can give an honest review. NO, this game is not a 10. Anybody scoring it that high must BE high. NO, this game is not a 0 either. Anybody scoring it that low was hanging out with the ones who gave it a 10. The gameplay remains top notch and be prepared to learn more patience at the plate. Dominant pitchers FEEL dominant when you're pitching and when you face them. Base hits feel earned and not like some lucky button press. Thinking of stretching that single into a double? Better check the arms of the outfieders first. For the first time ever I gave Diamond Dynasty a chance and I can see myself becoming more immersed in this mode. I love the fact that XP points are easier to earn across game modes and you're able to gain packs without having to spend more money. The user interface took some time to get used to but navigating menus is easier than in years past. RTTS remains solid and being able to use your created player in DD is a major plus. Now on to the bad stuff. The announcing is flat out awful. Same stale lines from years ago with a few new wrinkles thrown in. Remember what I said about being patient at the plate? Some clear check swings will be called full swings and it will cost you. Online franchise remains MIA and a season mode should be added for those who don't want to play offline franchise. While it's easier to earn packs, it still feels like paying for stubs to buy packs is the easiest way to get top notch cards for DD. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. Core gameplay is what's most important and The Show still gets it right. The bells and whistles need tweaking and it's WAY past the time for either a new announce team or updated lines from the current one.

If you only played RTTS, this isn't for you. You have to play DD, to upgrade your RTTS guy. You can only have one, and you can't import the guy(s) from '20. Skip it.

MLB The Show 21 is a refined and satisfying baseball experience, plus it's fully accessible to fans and those looking to get into the sport alike. Things like Stadium Creator and that the game runs at 4K and 60 FPS are something we can all appreciate. Visually there can be no significant leap from its predecessor. Also, while it includes some major gameplay updates, it took more effort in this regard.

Now available on Xbox, MLB The Show is still a fantastic way to discover and play baseball. This entry is still a very immersive experience, with a lot of things to do. And crossplatform is a great feature.

Overall I am blown away at how much I have enjoyed playing MLB The Show 21. I had a mild interest in baseball but I can see myself following the sport a lot closer based on how much fun I have had so far in this game. Sure it has flaws and it’s not the easiest to just pick up and play, but that all pales in comparison to the satisfaction of crushing a pitch clean out the field.

The game looks good, player models are the best they've been and stadiums and lighting are great. The animations look and feel authentic with plenty of variety. The new pinpoint pitching system is brilliant and pitching has never felt better. When fielding works, it's fluid and authentic. It's great to have baseball back on the Xbox.The positives are overshadowed by the series' long plagued issues. MLB stadiums suffer from frame rate issues, causing hitting and pitching to become much more difficult. Check swings are currently broken. Telling base runners to stop and go back still takes too much time, while CPU fielders are able to make split-second decisions in throwing, causing altogether too many runners thrown out on the base path. Occasionally, fielders will refuse to field a ground ball.The decision to tie RTTS and Diamond Dynasty together is a poor one and further minimizes, the already diminished, offline portion of a game. The continued push towards DD is nothing short of what EA has done with their sports titles, it is disappointing to see SDS move in the same direction.Franchise Mode is stale and has been stagnant for a years. It needed something to revitalize it, but SDS failed to make any meaningful change. The Depth Chart is a needed change, but it does nothing to deepen the mode or remedy issues that have plagued the series. Issues like: progression of young players and the regression of older players, players not retiring despite being 37+ years old and ratings below 60. The total roster size has been expanded to 93, which is positive, but again it fails to deepen the mode. It's a bare-bones franchise mode, which desperately needed an infusion of life.Player customization is as varied as it ever has been. SDS has a large selection of gloves, bats, batting gloves, and (finally) catcher's equipment. The catchers have a much larger selection of gear, including Nike, to choose from.The game has plenty of potential. Its current state, however, is disappointing giving where the series has been. SDS is, unfortunately, falling down the same path EA took. They continue to prioritize modes with microtransactions, ignoring their offline modes to further. drive MTX revenue.With server disconnects, broken rewards pathways, disappearing stubs and cards, it is yet another disappointing launch. More is expected of SDS, especially when The Show is their primary focus. In its current state, the game is a disappointment at best.

It's a fantastic year to be getting MLB The Show 21 on Xbox. There's a welcome 'Casual' preset for beginners, the gameplay is more enjoyable than ever, and newcomers will likely be overwhelmed (in a good way) at the sheer amount of content at their disposal. Road to the Show's new Ballplayer integration won't satisfy everyone, and needs a few tweaks, but it's nevertheless still a highly enjoyable mode to play, and the likes of Diamond Dynasty and March to October are excellent options as well. We've been waiting a long time to experience The Show for ourselves on Xbox, and it's amazing to finally be stepping up to the plate with MLB The Show 21 on Xbox Game Pass.

While MLB The Show 21 is another solid entry in the series, the pitch to Xbox newcomers and those looking for a next-gen experience isn’t as strong as it could have been. Pitching, fielding, and existing modes get some welcome adjustments, but truly significant additions are thin on the ground and the series’ presentation is stuck in its tracks. Hardcore hardball fans and Xbox owners who haven’t experienced MLB The Show before should have a good time, but this franchise may be in need of a rebuilding phase within the next year or two.

MLB The Show's 2021 vintage isn't a strike out, far from it. The title of Sony San Diego does not revolutionize its formula, but refines it in depth, from the more readable interface to the new very complete stadium editor, including the addition of the cross-platform and a perfect cloud backup. The heart of the game is still beating strong, namely a very faithful transcription of the major leagues by adding dynamism and variety in the realization to the clear and customizable gameplay.

Much like its predecessors, MLB The Show 21 is still one of the best sports games available once you step over the foul line. The gameplay has been tightened up and Pinpoint Pitching is a potential game-changer, and all of these elements go some way to dampening the disappointment of its missing features, stale commentary, and changes (or lack thereof) to Road to the Show and Franchise. It's not the strongest debut the series could've had on new hardware, but if you're in the mood for nine innings of America's favorite pastime, MLB The Show is still the undisputed king.

I’m surprised how good a baseball game can be but it was great. The difficulty in this series has always been pretty high, though there have always been plenty of options you can adjust to make the experience better. MLB The Show 21 tries to streamline this though with the inclusion of three gameplay styles for you to choose from. Casual is for the beginners or those just looking to play a more arcade style game. Simulation ups the difficulty and is much more based on player and team ratings with how well or poorly you perform. Lastly, Competitive escalates the difficult quite a bit, as it focuses on the player’s skills above anything else. Competitive is also the new standard for online player, so getting used to it in other modes can pay dividends online. Nice

To first-timers of the Show, this is a nice addition to GamePass, but the controls, the sluggish framerates, and the amount of Legends REMOVED from last year's game are things you may not realize have changed since 20.The create-a-player customization has actually LOST options over the years, and the visuals have not improved. Chalk most of this up to the fact that next-gen was released, but not available to every consumer readily.Get RBI if you're gonna buy a fun baseball game this year, and rent this via GamePass.

They took a little bit of the animation out so you have to make sure you are in the right position and not just get to a relative spot and let animations takeover. makes it a little more challenging which I like because my fielding percentage no matter what game mode is always like 99.5%.Haven't played much of the game modes just reviewing gameplay, I think their franchise is really underrated and I love how the do progression and the importance of not calling guys up too fast. Diamond dynasty seems to be the same with random add ons, I just hope they continue to focus on the other game modes and don't end up like 2k where its all about stubs and myplayer.
