At the end of the day, if you like top-down adventures, it goes without saying that God’s Trigger is one you should be checking out. Not only does it tick all the boxes both visually and in terms of the gameplay, but it also has a pretty affordable price tag too.

God’s Trigger was a blast to play. It is a gritty bloodbath that had fun with the tropes it played with and never sacrificed story or gameplay for its component parts. Harry and Judy made a great team in a corrupt world, and killing sinners, whether they’re cowboy body doubles or deranged cultists, has never felt so good.

In the vein of so many B movies that seek to provide the campiest of thrills, God’s Trigger takes delight in its over-the-top violence, cheesy monologues, and nonsensical plot.

At its best, God’s Trigger is mindless fun. It’s fast, gorey, and ridiculous. The action is a suitable stand-in for Hotline Miami, even if the style isn’t nearly as compelling. However, the pulpy tone and ridiculous aesthetic make it easier to look past its technical limitations and limited scope. If you don’t mind a bit of jank and a general lack of compelling personality, there’s a fast and frantic experience that’s generally a lot of fun. Play this with a friend or partner, if you can, and you’ll get a lot more out of its absurdity.

It’s up there with the likes of Hotline Miami and Mr Shifty when it comes to providing exhilarating top-down action, and it has also got a great soundtrack. Coming straight out of nowhere, it’s undoubtedly one of the best games released this year, and is an absolute must for anyone who loves local co-op.

God's Trigger allowed me the surprise of being so pleased with the unexpected greatness that unfolded as I played thru the game. From the beginning of the game I was hooked thanks to its fantastic shootouts and gore galore in this ultimately satisfying experience. I was pleased with the amount of content to include two main characters to play as, and being that one-shot always killed me, ensured that I didn’t get bored at any point and always felt on the edge of my seat in accomplishing each mission or room with the mission. Technically there are little to no problems with God's Trigger and a value for the price of the game you get a massive rush and plenty of fun for the price of admission. The difficulty of the game can be feel a little overwhelming at times due to the one shot deaths, but that factor really is what in the end, causes you to enjoy the game immensely. God’s Trigger is one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in months. Sure there are other games that rank in my top so far this year, but none from this genre or ilk to date in 2019. The game is so well done in fact that it’s without a doubt one of the best top-down shooters I’ve ever played, and I am a huge fan of this genre. Whether you are a typical fan of the genre or just looking for some well presented gaming fun there is something for everyone to find in God's Trigger and a must add to and Xbox One owners gaming library. I can confidently say you will not be disappointed.

While the AI can be a little too exploitable sometimes, and the stuttering can often be really annoying, these are problems people can mostly overlook. The frustration I feel from these issues is a tiny fraction of the joy and love I feel for the game.

God's Trigger is the best twin-stick shooter that I've ever played. With tons of variety and cooperative gameplay that's as rewarding as it is exhilarating, I simply can't recommend this indie masterpiece highly enough.

Brutal, deep, and stylish, God’s Trigger is without a doubt one of the most compelling top-down shooters of the gen. The game’s depth and variation, together with its one-hit-death mechanic, collectively ensure that the experience remains constantly fresh and engaging throughout. The only drawback is that it’s too easy to circumvent much of the difficulty, but even then, the fun rarely gives up. If you enjoy the likes of Hotline Miami, you’re going to love this.

Despite being fairly light on story and pigeon-holing its protagonists (I’m sure the only reason the woman is always the “demon” is for an excuse to dress her in tight trousers and make her speak purely in Sass), God’s Trigger is a vibrant, violent romp through Heaven, Hell, and everywhere between.
