The Norse roguelike horde-survivor Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, confirmed through a listing on the Nintendo eShop. The digital launch is set for July 30, 2026.
From PC Early Access to Every Major Platform
Developed by Games Farm and published by Grindstone, the game received positive reviews on PC for combining fast-paced horde combat with roguelike progression and mythological themes. The game entered Early Access on January 21, 2025, with the full version releasing on September 3, 2025. Within two weeks of its Early Access launch, Jötunnslayer surpassed 100,000 players on Steam and Epic Games Store, maintaining a “Very Positive” rating.
On Steam, that positive reputation has held: 84% of the game’s 2,950 user reviews are positive overall. The Switch 2 version marks the game’s arrival on Nintendo hardware for the first time, following its existing releases on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
What the Switch 2 Version Includes
The Nintendo Switch 2 release brings the full 1.0 content set. Jötunnslayer is a roguelike horde-survivor where players take on waves of enemies to earn divine blessings of ancient Viking deities. Battling across five realms, players take on the role of the damned and face the trials of the Gods, aided by lightning from Thor, divine radiance from Freya, and the support of Odin.
Key content included at launch:
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| New hero | Kin-Slayer, a disgraced warrior with heavy damage output |
| New region | Helheim – the Norse underworld with puzzles and a linear path |
| Endless Mode | Unlocked after surviving Helheim |
| New deity ally | Nidhogg, a dragon that fights alongside the player |
| Realms | Five in total, across Norse mythology |
The full release introduced a new Kin-Slayer character class, the Helheim region with its own puzzles, an Endless Mode for those who survive its dangers, and the dragon Nidhogg as a battlefield ally.

A Proven Genre Formula With Norse Production Values
Reviewers have drawn comparisons to the broader horde-survivor genre. The game has been described as an action-roguelite infused with elements of Diablo, while also functioning as an auto-shooter bullet heaven that draws from Vampire Survivors. The visuals stand out in the genre, using an isometric camera and a more realistic, high-fidelity style – with Jötunnslayer positioning itself as the near triple-A presentation option of the horde-survivor space.
Each hero builds power through a dual-track system: levelling is rapid-fire, with 20 or more upgrades possible in a single 15-20 minute run, each granting a random choice of class skills or divine blessings from the gods.
