Xbox has launched its latest Free Play Days event, and the headliner is a notably long free window for For Honor. For Honor is free for all Xbox members from Thursday, July 23 until Tuesday, August 4 – no Game Pass subscription required. That is nearly two weeks, making it the most generous offer in the current batch.
The full lineup for this Free Play Days event is Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version, Killing Floor 3, Bleach Rebirth of Souls, For Honor, and Tides of Tomorrow.
Who Needs Game Pass and Who Doesn’t
The event splits cleanly into two tiers depending on whether you hold a Game Pass subscription.
| Game | Free For | Ends |
|---|---|---|
| Tides of Tomorrow | Game Pass Ultimate/Premium/Essential | July 26 |
| Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version | Game Pass Ultimate/Premium/Essential | July 27 |
| Bleach Rebirth of Souls | All Xbox members | July 26 |
| Killing Floor 3 | All Xbox members | July 26 |
| For Honor | All Xbox members | August 4 |
Only Tides of Tomorrow and the Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version require a Game Pass subscription at the Ultimate, Premium, or Essential tier to access. The MGS collection gets one bonus day of access, running until Monday, July 27.
For Honor – Ubisoft’s Long-Running Faction Brawler
For Honor is Ubisoft’s multiplayer action game that pits historical factions – Knights, Vikings, and Samurai – against each other in team-based and 1v1 dueling arenas. Its signature Art of Battle system focuses on directional attacks, parries, feints, and timing, blending fighting game mechanics with hack-and-slash action.
The game launched in 2017 and still maintains an active player base. Nine years after launch, Ubisoft is still running promotional events around it – a nearly two-week free window suggests the publisher sees value in funneling new players into that ecosystem.

The Rest of the Lineup
Bleach Rebirth of Souls lets players step into the action as Ichigo, experiencing thrilling sword battles inspired by the legendary anime and mastering unique abilities and powerful awakenings. It is a full-price release, making its free window a genuine opportunity to trial a game that normally carries a premium tag. The Microsoft Store is also listing it at a limited-time discount – $23.99 down from $59.99 – for anyone who wants to keep playing after the event.

Killing Floor 3 heads to the Nordic North Sea with Season 4 – Operation: Shadow Hunter, featuring a new mire-infested oil rig map and the highly anticipated Gunslinger perk, which arms players with dual-wielded pistols and high-tech gadgets for destroying Zeds. The survival horde shooter supports up to five players in co-op. It is discounted to $19.99 from $39.99 during the event.
For Game Pass subscribers, Tides of Tomorrow and Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version are playable from July 23 until July 26. The MGS collection is a strong pull for anyone who missed Solid Snake’s debut on modern hardware.
How to Claim
Find and install the games on each individual game details page on Xbox.com – clicking through sends you to the Microsoft Store, where you must be signed in to see the install option. On console, head to the Subscriptions tab in the Xbox Store and navigate to the Free Play Days collection on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
Any Gamerscore and achievements earned during the event carry over if you choose to purchase a title before the window closes. With For Honor sitting open until August 4, there is no urgency – but the discounts on Bleach Rebirth of Souls and Killing Floor 3 only last as long as their respective free play windows do.
